Bluebird of Happiness

In ’45 a hit song flew
On radio’s magic wing.
Indigo airwaves, azure quarks
Did “Bluebird of Happiness” bring.

With longing heart, an echo lofts
Like pure cerulean light.
From desire’s transient nest
Joy takes a fledgling flight.

Climbing, diving, wafting swoop,
Delirious barrel roll,
Such winging barnstorm energy
Makes happiness seem whole.

Yet every nestling must contend
With icy gales that blow,
With doldrums, dry spells, thermal blasts
And pressure systems low.

No matter what your circumstance
A little lift in spirit
Is promised by the bluebird’s song.
May you be blessed to hear it.
