Poetry

The Sand

I ambled down a beach
Where warmth embraced my feet
At every step.
Invited by the sand
I sat
Near lapping water’s waves.
I cupped my palms
To ladle up some sand
And turned my wrists
To let it run its course.
And oh
The trembling tumbling grains
Sifted down
And sang the sun’s light.
And I was once again
A child at play.
